It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to the membership of Venio Dictum, one of Winnipeg's most respected Toastmasters clubs.
We hope you will find your stay with us a fruitful, enjoyable and challenging experience. The club will provide you with an incomparable opportunity to improve your communication and leadership skills. Your success in developing your public speaking abilities will be dependent on your regular participation in all aspects of the club's activities, particularly the weekly meetings at the Masonic Memorial Temple. Whether you are giving a speech, fulfilling the duties of Grammarian, Gruntmaster or Timekeeper, or participating in Table Topics, you will be learning something new.
Furthermore, just as your fellow members will help you to be a better and more confident speaker, so you will be able to improve their skills at the lectern. The continuous evaluation of you and your peers is an integral part of the Toastmasters' program and as vital to everyone's success as the preparation and delivery of speeches.
We are sure you will find very quickly that this is one of Venio Dictum's many strengths and a major reason for the high esteem with which the club is held in District 64.

How does it work?
Don't worry! Everyone in a Toastmasters club was once at the level you are now. The environment is friendly and supportive, and the self-paced program allows you to build confidence with each speaking assignment. And you'll love the applause! Constructive evaluation is the heart of the Toastmasters program. Each time you give a prepared speech, an evaluator will point out strengths and suggest improvements. At first you'll be applauded for your effort; later you'll be applauded for your skill.

Leadership is the art of persuading others to do what you wish to be done. To do so, you need to communicate, and you need to work as a team. In a Toastmasters club, you'll do both. And you'll find out how to vary your approach to suit the needs of different people, be they the audience for a speech, the committee for a fundraiser, or the members of your family.
